Bathroom Barricade Ends Badly For Drunken Suspect In Virginia McDonald's: Sheriff

A Stafford man is facing multiple charges after allegedly going on a drunken rampage that ended with him barricading himself in a McDonald’s bathroom, authorities announced.

Ryan Reid, 31, was arrested after a chaotic series of incidents that unfolded on the evening of Saturday, March 15, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

It all started around 5:52 p.m. when deputies responded to a disturbance on Almond Drive. Witnesses reported that Reid was screaming, throwing items out of a home, and causing property damage.

When deputies arrived, they found shattered glass littering the road, decorations strewn across the sidewalk, and a Ring camera ripped off a door.

Witnesses told authorities that Reid had "gone on a rage" before fleeing in a blue Acura.

Minutes later, another disturbance was reported at a Wawa on Wonder Road, where a caller said a man was yelling random things at her. The description matched Reid—who was last seen driving the same blue Acura.

By the time deputies arrived, Reid had made his way to an neighboring McDonald’s, where he locked himself inside a bathroom stall.

Deputies gave multiple commands for him to come out, but he refused—until they mentioned the use of OC spray. At that point, he quickly surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

Reid, who showed signs of intoxication, was caught on security footage parking in a handicap spot at Wawa before getting out and yelling at the caller, officials said.

He was charged with:

  • Dumping trash on private property;
  • Throwing hazardous materials on the highway;
  • Destruction of property;
  • Driving under the influence;
  • Disorderly conduct;
  • Obstruction of justice;
  • Two counts of refusal.

Reid was booked at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
